Lawn care - May
Posted on May 05, 2013 inMay
We should now be experiencing strong consistent growth, which means you can gradually lower the cutting height.
If any weeds are present in the lawn now is the ideal time to carry out any weed control, as the grass should be growing vigorously. For more information on weeds and weed identification please contact us.
If there is any lateral growth or coarse grasses present it would be beneficial to brush or lightly rake before mowing.
A nitrogen based fertiliser can be applied during May if necessary to maintain good consistent growth. It is important not to apply too much fertiliser, about 2 applications during the summer should be enough for the average lawn.
Irrigation should not be needed in May but if this prolonged dry spell continues some irrigation may be needed. Lawnkeeper are also applying wetting agents, please call for further information.
